Big Idea Final

for my big idea i decided to make a willow tree that represents me.
for the base i bought, cut, and screwed together the whole thing. i cut a hole in the center for a light to be mounted. i used a belt sander to curve all of the edges of my base then stained it. For the trunk of my tree I used metal rod that i bent and covered in material then covered them with vines. For the leaves i sewed a sheer material with a none sheer material and left the thread hanging.
leaves= there is a leaf for every season i have been living
vines= me still needing support
nails= what i try to build myself up to be
fortunes= what i really am
thread= a womanly duty and shows imperfections

Inflatopia - jellyfish

Our inflatopia went very well we got our jelly up and running before anyone else and had no problems other than the wind being a little harsh. Inside of our jellyfish we had a small treasure chest covered in a fishing net, several bricks cover in tinfoil to go along with the treasure idea they also help keep our jelly in place, and bubbles to blow while inside. There was a vent hole at the top of our inflatable to allow some air to escape so when we shut the door it wouldn't bust or fly away.

identity essentials

I used the body as a Container of thoughts and soul. These tattoos
are meaningful and they show the thoughts and in a way the
soul of the owner. The ink is contained in the skin forever.

mark making piece...

materials:
-feathers
-hot glue
-black wire
-old suitcase
-christmas lights

This piece was about conformity and my journey to find my voice. I got an A-...

metaphor project

For my metaphor project I used a broken light bulb to represent how it is for my to try to recall memories. I used an oddly shaped piece of firewood I saved for art, copper from the cord to the old light, a broken light bulb and the cord of course. I stripped some of the wire and put the copper in the groves of the wood so it wasn't just a piece of wood. then i wrapped the cord of the light bulb around the wood and hung it from the wall.

pics to come...

Lecture #3 project my life map...

the materiels i used for my life map were:
-old medicine bottles with former addresses on them
-sand to represent time spent at each address
 -medicine cabinet to hold old medicine bottles
-paper labels that are color coated to show emotions associated with the time in my life
-kitchen hardware...

There really wasn't a critique on our life maps but i did present this piece to the class. i described the materials and what they stood for.

Proposal one-two-three

TRYING TO RECALL MEMORIES IS LOOKING INTO A BLACK TV SCREEN.

-tv with cut cord
       -maybe paint tv with clear glossy coat.
TRYING TO RECALL MEMORIES IS TRYING TO USE A REMOTE WITHOUT BATTERIES.
-laying on side? standing on end?
-gloss on this too?
-batteries laying beside remote?
TRYING TO RECALL MEMORIES IS TRYING LIGHT A ROOM WITH A BROKEN LIGHT.
-i would use old hanging light harvested from abandoned house
-i would break a light and put it into light fixture
-would hang off of piece of wood that is attached to the wall

My Manifesto revision

My Manifesto
                             I too stayed up all night
                             I too heard the thunderous silence of expected conformity.
                             I too went to break down the gate of the unspoken.
I saw the first angles fly.
                                                             I died;
                                                             I was resurrected.
I awoke not in the light of day but in the comfort of the night.
Night.
                             I too had left all good sense behind me;
  It was time to break away.
Away.
                                     It was time to breach the absurd and the unthinkable!
                                                             I was there;
                                                             Now I am here.
                             I too heard the call to break down the screaming walls of the
                             unspoken…
And I too will be heard…
                                                             For I too have a voice.
Voice.

Don't play with your food...final uncomfortable video.

when we critiqued the videos i was told i should have had a tighter camera angle. maybe i should have just gotten a close up of the arteries or something. i was also told that the music was predictable. i was originally planning on having the metal song unhallowed playing and i figured the song alone would make people uncomfortable but i decided it might be too much for the piece. metal makes me uncomfortable. i wish i knew more about classical music because i had never heard the "funeral march" but now i know it is completely unoriginal. i was overall very happy with the outcome of my video. if i had to re do it i would definitely use the suggestions i got from the critique.

Serious Content

The title of my essay over Reverend Ethan Acres is Serious Content. I titled it this because I feel like he is serious about his content but not the way he presents it.

pictures of gestures...

for this homework assignment i listened to 3 different songs and drew a gesture for each on. There is one representational piece and three class mark making assignments as well.
